Original story of the first day of school!

Kristine

Perfect for a first-year teacher gift

When I first read the book I was very surprised that Sarah was the teacher。 A child reading that could also be surprised at the plot twist。 The book is very comforting and ideal for the first day of school。 Emotions like nervous or anxiety are seen as childish or something that should out grown。 But this book expresses that emotions are common within an adults。 Once I become a teacher I would love to read this book。

Great way to address start-of-school anxieties。 (I also recommend the companion book, Last Day Blues。)

Great first day of school book。 Have students draw emojis to describe how they are feeling about the first day of school。

This would be a great book to read to your students on the first day of school。 It helps them know that they are not alone and that there's nothing wrong with feeling the way they feel。 This would be a great book to read to your students on the first day of school。 It helps them know that they are not alone and that there's nothing wrong with feeling the way they feel。 。。。more

This book was great! It was recommended in one of my classes and it was a great insight for the first day of school。 The entire time I was reading this, I thought it was about a kid who was anxious about their first day, but it was about the teacher。 This was a great perspective to look at and I enjoyed it。

A great book to read on the first day of school to help kids feel more comfortable in a new classroom with a new teacher and classmates :)

I think every Kindergarten teacher needs this to read to her class。 It is so cute!!

This book is a great read for mid elementary school students。 This book will challenge their reading skills as well as their comprehension skills。 This book talks about how moving to a new school can be very hard to do as a new student, however it also talks about everything that is good that can come out of being a new student at a school。 There is responsibilities as a student and this book touches on this concept which I think is good to get into students minds very early on。

This story is a great one to read to students on the first day of school。 Everyone can relate to it because they are nervous to start。 They feel like they don't know anyone, and they just want to stay home and be in bed。 All the way through this book, I was thinking it was the students who were nervous, but the surprise at the end revealed it was actually the teacher that had trouble getting out of bed because of her nerves。 A great conversation starter with children, and letting them know that This story is a great one to read to students on the first day of school。 Everyone can relate to it because they are nervous to start。 They feel like they don't know anyone, and they just want to stay home and be in bed。 All the way through this book, I was thinking it was the students who were nervous, but the surprise at the end revealed it was actually the teacher that had trouble getting out of bed because of her nerves。 A great conversation starter with children, and letting them know that adults and teachers get nervous too! First Day Jitters by Julie Danneberg is a children's realistic fiction book that focuses on the jitters and uneasy feelings that someone may experience on the first day of school。 Sarah does not want to go to her first day of school, feeling all of these emotions as she is forced to get ready for school。 I like this book because the illustrations are colorful and were created with multiple mediums, creating unique images。 The story also has a surprise ending that young readers will not see comin First Day Jitters by Julie Danneberg is a children's realistic fiction book that focuses on the jitters and uneasy feelings that someone may experience on the first day of school。 Sarah does not want to go to her first day of school, feeling all of these emotions as she is forced to get ready for school。 I like this book because the illustrations are colorful and were created with multiple mediums, creating unique images。 The story also has a surprise ending that young readers will not see coming! How I feel everyday before going to work, lol。

This was an excellent book。 It took us through the feelings of Sarah Hartwell having to go to a new school。 She didn't want to go to another new school and had many excuses from she didn't know anyone there to she was feeling sick。 Mr。 Hartwell tried to be encouraging but Sarah wasn't interested。 Once Sarah reached the school the principal met her at the car and escorted her to her classroom。 That's where we learned Sarah is the teacher。 This was an excellent book。 It took us through the feelings of Sarah Hartwell having to go to a new school。 She didn't want to go to another new school and had many excuses from she didn't know anyone there to she was feeling sick。 Mr。 Hartwell tried to be encouraging but Sarah wasn't interested。 Once Sarah reached the school the principal met her at the car and escorted her to her classroom。 That's where we learned Sarah is the teacher。 。。。more

Somehow I've missed this awesome first-day-of-school book! The illustrations carry a lot of the story here, so make sure students can see them and ask them to infer what's happening。 I was genuinely surprised at the ending and think students will love it too。 Somehow I've missed this awesome first-day-of-school book! This is definitely my favorite book for the first day of school。 The kids never predict the ending and it shows students that feeling nervous that first day is totally normal。

Noah

WOW!! Ooof。 Like how does she not want to go to school?

Bailey

Adorable read。 Great book for 1st grade。 Gets them thinking and prospective taking。

This was a very fun book to read。 This is a book that I would read to my students on the first day of class。 I loved reading this book so much that I read it my parents, my siblings, and even my little cousins! The plot leads to a BIG surprise at the end which everyone who I read it to loved! Everyone was so shocked, even me。 I think that the theme of this story was that everyone gets nervous on their first day! This book helps kids get a understanding of feelings you can experience on the first day and shows that its normal to feel that way!

First Day Jitters was written by Julie Danneberg and illustrated by Judy Love。 This book described the feelings of Mrs。 Hartwell on her first day of teaching at a new school。 She was very nervous because she has never been there before and didn't know anyone。 Luckily, her husband convinced her to go。 All of the students were so excited to meet Mrs。 Hartwell。I enjoyed this book。 Many times, books only explain the struggles of a student, but this showed the reality teachers face as well! I can only imagine how scary it is being a first-year teacher (or a new teacher) at a school。 I loved how the pictures throughout the book made the reader assume it was a student。 I had a feeling that it would be the teacher。 The pictures are so perfect for this book。 They are not too over or underwhelming。I would for sure use this book on my first day of teaching! I would explain how nervous (but excited!) I am for the school day。 I would share some things I am worried about and have the students share some too。 Then we can all agree to be very nice and kind to each other since we are all nervous about school! We can then explain the classroom environment-- and how it is a safe space for every single student。 。。。more

A cute story about having jitters before the first day school。。。even teachers sometimes get the jitters。

First day of school can be nerve wrecking to students。 this book exhibits what a good support system can do for a child who is struggling to find that motivation for school!

Chelsey Wilson

Love the surprise ending!

I've been reading this aloud to the new 4th graders at school this week and even those who have heard it before enjoy hearing it again。。。even if they already know the surprise ending。 It's a short, cute read for the little ones going back to school! AHHH!!!! Such a good book! The twist at the end was something I was not expecting。 However, it makes teachers so human in that they too can struggle and have jitters。
